As part of the ongoing effort to ensure the health and safety of staff, students, families, and the community, the Berks County Intermediate Unit has developed a new toolkit, “Staying Safe: Protocols for Responding to COVID-19.”
The toolkit identifies common scenarios that employees, students, and families may experience, including the protocols in place based on the latest guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), and the County of Berks Department of Emergency Services (EMS).
Also included are leave options that are available to employees, including the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), and a decision-making matrix for school closures provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The BCIU recognizes that a safe reentry into the workplace and the delivery of in-person services is a shared responsibility among students, staff, and the community. The organization will continue to develop and share resources to assist staff, students, families, and schools in preparing for and responding to COVID-19.
