The Berks County Intermediate Unit’s Office of Information Technology provides innovative solutions for your school district’s technology needs. BCIU staff can assist with the implementation and training in new technologies, with industry-leading customer support.
The BCIU has provided a full complement of tax billing services to school districts, county offices, and townships/municipalities in and outside Berks County for more than 25 years. Our software, eTaxTrax®, allows district personnel and tax collectors alike to manage taxpayer and property information throughout the tax year, from tax calculation to bill generation and printing, as well as tax collection and tracking, including the handoff to delinquent collections.
BCIU’s tax team, comprising tax support specialists, systems analysts, and Web developers, brings a wealth of technical expertise and years of tax experience to the table. We are constantly improving the software to meet our users’ needs. Team members are available to support clients throughout the working day by e-mail or by phone.
Cybersecurity is a critical, but often overlooked, aspect of school safety and security. School districts are considered “soft targets” compared to banks, hospitals, and businesses because criminals can access similar data with much less effort.
Since 2016, there have been more than 770 cyber incidents affecting K-12 schools in the United States, including ransomeware attacks, data breaches, phishing attacks, and more.* The BCIU Office of Information Technology wants to equip school leaders with the knowledge they need to prevent these costly attacks.
