About the

OFFICE OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

From learning the latest in classroom technology tools, to continuing professional education courses, to training in curriculum evaluation, and more, the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s Office of Professional Learning offers educators and administrators a wealth of professional development experiences.

The National Education Association believes that “professional development should be required throughout the career of education support professionals. Professional development programs should provide equal opportunities for these employees to gain and improve the knowledge and skills important to their positions and job performance. These programs should assure that appropriate education employees have a decisive voices at every stage of planning, implementation, and evaluation.”

The BCIU Office of Professional Development & Curriculum offers many classes, workshops, and special services for the educators of Berks County and across the Commonwealth.

Events & Conferences

Educators from across Berks County and beyond gather for the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s annual events and conferences. The events feature some of the most recognized national speakers as well as the most talented local educators, all with the goal of inspiring and challenging educators to take what they learn and apply it to their own classrooms. IDEA Services

The BCIU offers IDEA services to schools and districts through the Training and Consultative (TaC) provisions. Services are offered for assistive technology, low-incidence disabilities, paraprofessionals, safety care, transition assessment, and Indicator 13.
