On Friday, October 9, Chief Steven J. Stinsky of the Fleetwood Police Department was presented with a commendation from Chief Constable Andy Rhodes of the Lancashire Constabulary HQ in Lancashire, England, in a ceremony hosted at the Berks County Intermediate Unit Main Office.

In August, a 16-year-old from Fleetwood, England mistakenly reached out for help on the Fleetwood Police Department’s Facebook page and expressed that he was having suicidal thoughts. Chief Stinsky engaged in conversation with the teen, easing the situation until the Lancashire Police were able to find him and connect him with the services that he needed. Chief Constable Rhodes added that the young man is now doing much better and is continuing to receive services and support.

Participants in the ceremony included District Attorney John Adams, Fleetwood Mayor Dr. Tammy Gore, Retired Exeter Township Police Chief Christopher Neidert, and Dr. Jill Hackman.

The BCIU congratulates Chief Stinsky for this well-deserved honor!
