On Tuesday, January 21, 2020, Berks County Intermediate Unit Executive Director Dr. Jill Hackman was one of three representatives invited to speak on behalf of the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) at a public hearing of the Pennsylvania House Education Committee.
State Representative Curt Sonney (R-Erie) called the public hearing to hear testimony about Pennsylvania cyber education and House Bill 1897.
Dr. Hackman was joined by Dr. Andria Saia, Executive Director of the Capital Area Intermediate Unit, and Ms. Jennifer Beagan, Senior Program Director at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
“PAIU and the Berks County Intermediate Unit stand ready to work with the House Education Committee and all members of the General Assembly to ensure that students and families have high quality, cost-effective online learning options,” Dr. Hackman said.
Representatives from Pennsylvania’s 29 intermediate units will join other education leaders at the Capitol in Harrisburg again on Monday, March 23, for Advocacy Day 2020, a collaborative effort of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA), the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU), and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA).
