Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is an umbrella term that encompasses Response to Instruction & Intervention (RtII) as a model of schooling that integrates academic and behavioral instruction and intervention.
Instruction and intervention are provided to students in varying degrees of intensity (Tiers) based upon students’ needs.
Data-based decision making ensures that the appropriate resources are provided to students so that all students can achieve. Professional learning opportunities and tailored support to assist districts in their development of a viable MTSS/RtII model will be paramount.
