PA Dream Team Springs Into Action

Danielle Dillman, Technical Writer, East Penn Manufacturing

The PA Dream Team is a group of young professionals who work in the manufacturing field, specifically in STEM-related careers, who have been trained by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) and the BCIU to present their career journeys to students in Berks County. This initiative aims to encourage more young people to consider a career in manufacturing (STEM) so that the projected workforce demands may be met in Berks County. Created in 2021, the PA Dream Team is a partnership between the MRC and the BCIU and is funded by the Berks County Workforce Development Board and the United Way of Berks County.

The PA Dream Team represents the promise and future of advanced manufacturing in Berks County. Mrs. Jillian Darlington, BCIU Career Readiness & STEM Specialist, is the PA Dream Team Lead Trainer in Berks County. PA Dream Team members use their professional experience and passion for their career to make classroom presentations that encourage students to explore manufacturing careers, which is the largest employment sector in Berks County. There are currently 15 PA Dream Team members in Berks County.

An estimated 60 interactive classroom presentations and community events will take place this spring, totaling about 90 for the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you to the PA Dream Team for their work in educating and encouraging students to start planning their future.
