READING, PA – With the 2020-2021 school year underway for many school districts across Berks County, focus remains on spreading awareness about local school district online learning options for instruction and academic support in response to COVID-19. Red billboards and graphics are appearing across the county and in social media feeds as the 18 Berks County school districts and the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) continue to collaborate to promote BerksCyber.org as a resource for families residing in Berks County. The call to action urges families to visit BerksCyber.org to learn about the benefits of choosing their local school district’s virtual learning option.

“The health, safety, and well-being of the 70,000 plus students we serve continues to be the top priority of education leaders throughout Berks County. The pandemic has shown the vital importance of our schools and the services provided for our students every day,” said Berks County Intermediate Unit Executive Director Dr. Jill Hackman. “We want to let students and families know that it is not too late to enroll in or select the online learning option within their district. Yes, for many, the school year has already begun, but our local school districts offer a high-quality virtual learning experience for students and families choosing not to return for in-person instruction in the fall.”

In addition to the smooth transition between virtual learning and in-person instruction while remaining in the district, some of the benefits of selecting local online learning options include:

  • Learn at home with high-quality instruction and curriculum
  • Participate in clubs, extracurricular activities, and sports
  • Receive a diploma from their high school (for graduating seniors)
  • Choose a flexible option with the potential to do partial online and partial in-person learning
  • Access school counselors and other support services
  • Compete in scholastic competitions, and so much more!

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit BerksCyber.org to find their school district’s virtual learning option, reach out for more information, and begin the enrollment process.
