Educational Interpreter (Signing) support is provided for deaf or hard of hearing students who need sign language support to obtain or express information. These students may utilize educational interpreters while attending academic, elective, and vocational classes outside the hearing-impaired support classroom.
Educational Interpreters are responsible for helping deaf or hearing impaired students understand what is being said in a variety of situations. An interpreter will learn the subject matter so he or she can accurately translate what is being spoken into sign language.
Interpreters may be used in one-on-one situations or small groups.
