Practical Strategies for Reducing Drop-Out Risk addresses state and federal mandates that hold school districts increasingly accountable for graduation rates of all students.
Students with disabilities are more than twice as likely to drop out of school compared to students without disabilities. Extensive research points to practical strategies for meeting the needs of students who demonstrate high “alterable” risk factors.
This workshop will provide an overview of drop-out prevention research. Participants will begin to develop plans for applying evidence-based drop-out prevention strategies in their school settings. Emphasis will be placed on tiered models of intervention that have been demonstrated to impact graduation rates of high-risk students when implemented at elementary, middle, or high school levels, in rural, suburban, and urban districts.
