Learning progressions show the typical trajectory of student learning of specific skills or knowledge. They are used to assess where students are in relation to an end goal, provide students with feedback, and offer next instructional steps for teachers. They are a powerful to tool used by teachers, but they are even more powerful when created by teachers and matched to essential standards and curriculum.
The BCIU can guide teachers to assess student progress and develop targeted instructional plans using established learning progressions. We can also facilitate teams to create learning progressions that match a district’s curriculum.
