On Tuesday morning, March 19, 2019, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) Education Centre hosted U.S. Senator Bob Casey. Senator Casey is currently visiting child care centers across the Commonwealth to facilitate roundtable discussions with parents and educators regarding two new proposed bills: Child Care for Working Families Act of 2019 and Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit Enhancement Act.
Senator Casey’s visit included a tour of the Education Centre, reading “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” to one of the BCIU’s child care classrooms, meeting with several parents and educators to provide an overview of the bills, and listening to their valuable feedback regarding why early childhood services are important to them.
“The BCIU was honored to host Senator Casey. It is evident that he is an advocate and champion for parents and children, not only in the BCIU’s early education programs, but in early education programs across the Commonwealth,” said Michelle Reichard-Huff, Director of Early Childhood and Student Services for the BCIU.
