Sponsored by Leadership Berks and the O’Pake Institute at Alvernia, in partnership with the Berks Alliance and the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, a kick-off event to support ‘Reading Rising’ was held at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel on North Fifth Street in Reading on November 14. The goal of Reading Rising is to recognize entrepreneurship in action, and to nurture growth in the city.
Business and education leaders throughout the county attended to observe presentations about interesting arts, education, and entrepreneurial investment efforts; and celebrated innovation and positive strides to grow the economy and progress for the City of Reading.
A fine example of the growth potential for the Greater Reading area was an overview of the Berks County K-12 Career Pathways Framework shared by Dr. George Fiore, Superintendent of Kutztown Area School District with two of his students. The student-led presentation shared how this initiative leads to post-graduation success and a more vibrant community.
The Reading Rising committee hopes to hold this collaborative event on an annual basis to continue to highlight and promote accomplishments of inspiring individuals and organizations within the City of Reading.
