The Office of Business Services provides accounting, budgeting, audit, payroll, and support services to all BCIU programs; as well as offering services to internal and external clients and partners, including printing, duplicating, microfilming, and document imaging. In addition, this office coordinates transportation for Antietam School District, BCIU Child Care, Berks Career & Technology Center (BCTC), Muhlenberg School District, Reading School District, Tulpehocken Area School District, and YMCA Day Care.
The ACCESS Program serves intermediate units across Pennsylvania. It is a cooperative effort of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Camp Connect provides students with the opportunity to come together to learn new ways of dealing with their grief, and to meet other children and families who have experienced similar loss. Specially trained counselors, nurses, and college interns from across Berks County provide support with a one-to-one staff to student ratio.
The Berks County Crisis Management Flight Team provides counseling and emotional support to schools in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The team is composed of dedicated local school counselors, psychologists, teachers, and administrators.
The ETS courier service serves all school districts in Berks County, as well as the county’s career and technology centers, the Berks County Jail System, the Caron Foundation, Immigrations & Customs Enforcement (ICE), and other entities. We deliver to and pick up from each district two days a week, with service either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
The BCIU utilizes a centralized purchasing function to achieve operational efficiencies and cost savings. The Purchasing Services Department coordinates the agency’s purchasing activities and oversees the preparation and handling of RFPs and bids.
The BCIU offers business-ready meeting space at its Main Office Building — 1111 Commons Boulevard, Reading, PA 19605. Rooms are available every day for use between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
In order to help Berks County school districts properly respond to medical emergencies, BCIU’s knowledgeable instructors provide customized, cost-effective training in CPR, first aid, and the use of automated external defibrillators. We offer hands-on, stress-free courses at your site or ours, with day, evening, and weekend sessions available.
The Berks County Intermediate Unit provides pupil transportation services in keeping with its state charter to lend support and assistance to Pennsylvania schools.
