The Berks STEM Connection Ecosystem, comprised of Career Ready Berks and the Berks STEM Connection, has been selected to join the STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice (SLECoP), a network of global ecosystems working to build meaningful connections among community partners to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
Charles Trovato and Stacy Dunleavy, program administrators in the BCIU’s Office of Professional Development and Curriculum were in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 21, 2019 to accept the recognition. In addition to Berks, three other STEM ecosystems were selected to join the SLECoP: the Arkansas, Idaho, and NEPA (Northeastern Pennsylvania) STEM Ecosystems.
STEM education continues to be a priority for the BCIU, which, along with the Kutztown Area School District, helped launch the Eastern Pennsylvania Innovation Catalyst (EPIC) Network earlier this year.
The STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice is a global initiative that now includes 89 ecosystems from 40 states in the United States as well as Kenya, Israel, Mexico, and Canada.
