The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) congratulates Dr. Christi Weitzel, Assistant Director of Early Childhood Programs, on her appointment to the United Way of Berks County Board of Directors, serving as Chair of the Ready.Set.READ! initiative.

Ready.Set.READ! is a community-wide initiative focused on helping children achieve reading proficiency by third grade through literacy-focused programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts.

Dr. Weitzel brings extensive experience in early childhood education and a longstanding commitment to supporting young learners and their families. In her new role, she will help guide the organization’s efforts to strengthen early literacy initiatives and expand opportunities for children across Berks County.

The BCIU is pleased to see Dr. Weitzel’s expertise and leadership recognized through this appointment and looks forward to the positive impact she will continue to make for children, families, and the community.
