The BCIU recognized 38 paraprofessionals who completed the 2026 Paraprofessional Academy during ceremonies held on June 9 and 10, marking the culmination of months of learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

Now in its 18th year, the Paraprofessional Academy remains a cornerstone program for building capacity within schools. Spanning six days throughout the academic year, the program equips participants with practical strategies and skills to meet state credentialing requirements while strengthening their ability to support both students and educators.

During the ceremonies, Stacey Breiner, Education Consultant in the BCIU Office of Professional Learning, highlighted the essential role paraprofessionals play in today’s classrooms and commended graduates for their dedication and perseverance in balancing their responsibilities with professional development.

The celebrations also acknowledged the many school partners who contributed to the graduates’ journey. Representatives from participating districts and organizations supported the process by conducting interviews, reviewing portfolios, and helping to celebrate this important milestone alongside the graduates.

The 2026 cohort represents a group of school districts and organizations, including the Berks County Intermediate Unit, Berks Career and Technology Center, and Conrad Weiser Area, Exeter Township, Governor Mifflin, Hamburg Area, Kutztown Area, Muhlenberg, Tulpehocken Area, and Wilson school districts, and the SOS Group, Inc., serving Antietam, Brandywine Heights Area, and Oley Valley school districts.

The BCIU extends its congratulations to the 2026 Paraprofessional Academy graduates and gratitude for their continued dedication to students and schools across Berks County. Their commitment to learning, growth, and service strengthens classrooms and supports student success every day. As these professionals return to their roles with enhanced skills and confidence, they continue to make a meaningful and lasting impact throughout our school communities.
