The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) hosted the 44th Annual Secondary Art Exhibition Award Ceremony on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. This long‑standing tradition continues to showcase the remarkable creativity of Berks County high school students and reinforces the BCIU’s commitment to supporting arts education across Berks County.
The exhibition, displayed in the GoggleWorks main gallery from Friday, March 27, through Wednesday, April 15, 2026, featured more than 1,800 original works created by students in grades 9-12. Selected by art educators from 22 participating high schools, the pieces were formally judged across a variety of categories including oils/acrylics, water media, color and black-and-white drawing, pen and ink, printmaking, mixed media/collage, photography, digital and photo illustration, hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery, 3-D/motion graphics, graphic design, sculpture, and both loom and non-loom textiles.
Participating schools included Antietam, Berks Career & Technology Center, Berks Catholic, Boyertown Area, Brandywine Heights Area, Conrad Weiser Area, Daniel Boone Area, Exeter Township, Fleetwood Area, Governor Mifflin, Hamburg Area, King’s Academy, Kutztown Area, Muhlenberg, Oley Valley, Reading, Reading Muhlenberg Career & Technology Center, Schuylkill Valley, Tulpehocken Area, Twin Valley, Wilson, and Wyomissing Area.
The exhibition’s continued success is made possible through partnerships with the Reading Berks County Guild of Craftsmen, Berks Arts, and a dedicated panel of local artist judges. Their collaboration ensures a high‑quality experience for students and the community each year.
Now in its 44th year, the Secondary Art Exhibition remains a signature BCIU event—one that celebrates student achievement, elevates the importance of arts education, and strengthens connections among schools, families, and the broader Berks County arts community.
