Spotlight:  Dr. Michelle Reichard-Huff Receives PAIU Ambassador Award

The Berks County Intermediate Unit is proud to celebrate Dr. Michelle Reichard-Huff, Director of the Office of Early Childhood and Student Services, on receiving the 2026 Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) Ambassador Award. She was honored during the PAIU Annual Conference at the Hershey Lodge on Thursday, May 21, 2026. 

 

This statewide award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding dedication to advancing the mission and impact of Pennsylvania’s Intermediate Units through advocacy, leadership, and service.

 

Dr. Reichard-Huff was selected for her commitment to championing IU programs and services that support students, families, educators, and school communities across Berks County and the Commonwealth. Through her leadership, she supports more than 500 staff members delivering early childhood, special education, alternative education, and student services, while consistently elevating the value of Intermediate Units through legislative engagement, community partnerships, and visible, hands-on leadership.

 

Her work to connect policymakers and community partners with IU programs, develop staff expertise, and strengthen collaborative systems has made a meaningful and lasting impact both locally and statewide.

 

In presenting the award, Dr. Jill Hackman, BCIU Executive Director, shared that, “Dr. Reichard-Huff does not simply advocate for Intermediate Units in name—she advances their mission through action. Her ability to elevate programs, amplify staff voice, and communicate the value of IUs to policymakers and the public makes her an influential and trusted ambassador for Intermediate Units across Pennsylvania.”
