Legislative Roundtable Strengthens Dialogue Between School Leaders and Lawmakers

The BCIU hosted the annual Legislative Roundtable on Friday, March 27, 2026, bringing together Berks County legislators, superintendents, CTC directors, and business officials for a focused discussion on key education issues.

Held at the BCIU Main Office, the morning opened with introductions and an overview of the roundtable’s purpose: fostering open communication and ensuring lawmakers understand the challenges facing local schools.

Conversation centered on several priority topics, including state mandates, adequacy funding, and cyber charter funding. A panel discussion allowed participants to share district perspectives and explore opportunities for continued collaboration.

The BCIU was pleased to welcome a strong delegation of legislators and staff, including Senator Judy Schwank, Representative Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, Representative Jacklyn Rusnock, and representatives from the offices of Senator Scott Martin, Senator Chris Gebhard, and Representative Mark Gillen.

The event concluded with closing remarks and a group photo, underscoring the shared commitment to supporting Berks County schools.
