This past holiday season, BCIU and Pennsylvania Key employees went above and beyond to make the season brighter for students, families, and local organizations through several meaningful giving initiatives.

Warm Winter Wishes (November 3 – December 5)

For the second consecutive year, employees participated in Warm Winter Wishes, supporting students and their families in the BCIU Early Childhood and Student Services Program. Staff selected “snowflakes” featuring a student and their siblings, fulfilling holiday wish lists with thoughtful gifts. This year, the project served 77 families, benefiting 203 children, doubling the impact from its inaugural year.

Helping Harvest Food Bank (November 1 – December 13)

Employees also rallied to support local families in need through donations to Helping Harvest. Nearly 300 pounds of non-perishable food items were collected, helping the organization reach underserved communities and provide critical food assistance throughout Berks County.

Humane Pennsylvania (December 1 – December 19)

Compassion extended to our furry friends as employees contributed supplies, essential items, and funds to Humane Pennsylvania. These contributions ensure the organization can continue its lifesaving work and provide top-notch care for animals in the community.

Veterans Multi-Service Center (October 1 – November 14)

New this year, employees supported local veterans and their families by donating essential items and gift cards to the Veterans Multi-Service Center. Many veterans arrive at the Center with very few belongings, and these donations provide vital resources to help them make a fresh start. The Veterans Multi-Service Center expressed its sincere appreciation for the BCIU’s generosity, noting that all donations will support veterans in Berks County.

Through these Holiday Giving Projects, BCIU and Pennsylvania Key employees exemplified the true spirit of the season by making a meaningful difference in the lives of students, families, veterans, animals, and neighbors throughout the Berks County community.
