On Saturday, November 8, 2025, more than 150 guests filled the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School for the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s (BCIU) third annual Designer Bag Bingo, a fundraiser held to benefit the United Way of Berks County. Participants had a chance to win high-end purses by playing several rounds of bingo. In addition, guests participated in a 50/50 drawing, raffled off prize baskets donated by local businesses and individuals, and enjoyed a variety of food and refreshments. Brad Weitzel of Be-Rad Sound Production once again brought the energy as DJ and MC for the event, keeping it fun, upbeat, and running smoothly.
The event raised more than $7,500, which will support the BCIU’s 2025-2026 United Way Campaign, helping to fund programs for individuals and families in the community.
“We are grateful to Dr. Lisa Peterson, President, and the entire Governor Mifflin School Board; to Dr. Lisa Hess, Superintendent, and the dedicated GMSD staff for their warm hospitality; to our generous sponsors; and to all community members who joined us,” said Dr. Jill Hackman, BCIU Executive Director. “This event demonstrates the value of partnerships and helps advance the important work of the United Way Campaign across Berks County.”
Tina Blatt, BCIU United Way Campaign Committee Chair, also shared, “We are thankful to everyone who supported this year’s United Way event. Your generosity reflects the strength of our community and helps ensure that vital resources remain available to support individuals and families who rely on United Way programs every day.”
A special thank you to the members of the United Way Committee for your outstanding work in planning and coordinating every detail of the United Way Bingo event. Your dedication, organization, and teamwork were instrumental in the event’s success!
