Thanks to the generous support of Cramp-Hummel Funeral Home, Inc. and the Reading Fightin Phils, seven students from Berks County school districts, accompanied by BCIU teachers of the visually impaired and certified orientation and mobility (O&M) specialists, had the opportunity to attend a special morning Reading Fightin Phils game.
Although the Phils fell to the Somerset Patriots in extra innings with a hard-fought 7–6 loss, the group enjoyed over three hours of exciting, action-packed baseball. Beyond the fun at the ballpark, the outing provided students with a valuable opportunity to socialize with same-aged peers from other districts while working toward goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
