BCIU Start of the Year State of the Unit 2025-2026 Theme Service in Action: Aspire. Adapt. Advance.

From August 11 to August 22, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) is launching the new school year with our annual Start of the Year | State of the Unit activities! Across offices and programs, teams are coming together to prepare for the year ahead, sharing updates, setting priorities, and reconnecting with one another.

This year’s theme, “Service in Action – Aspire, Adapt, Advance,” reflects the dedication, flexibility, and forward momentum that define our service to students, families, schools, and communities. It serves as a reminder of the spirit staff bring to their work every day, aspiring to do their best, adapting to meet changing needs, and advancing opportunities for those we serve.

During these meetings, offices are sharing their program-specific priorities alongside our organizational priorities that guide everything we do:

Safety & Security – Ensuring the well-being of our staff, students, and facilities through physical safety measures, training, technology protections, and reaffirming mandated reporting requirements.

Culture of Belonging – Strengthening connection by sharing 2025-2026 strategies to support belonging, recognizing our 2024-2025 Employees of the Month, celebrating service anniversaries and milestones, and sharing the exciting news that the BCIU has been named a 2025 Top Workplace in Education.

Financial Stability – Navigating the financial landscape with strategic planning and decisions that sustain and strengthen our mission.

Additional organizational updates being highlighted include a new cybersecurity initiative related to email, scheduled web accessibility training and support, facilities improvements, and the launch of the updated BCIU Employee Handbook, along with the annual Board Policy acknowledgment process, among others.

With clarity, connection, and purpose, we are moving into a new school year ready to aspire, adapt, and advance—together.
