The BCIU celebrated the graduation of 88 paraprofessionals from the 2025 Paraprofessional Academy. Due to the impressive number of graduates, three separate ceremonies were held on June 10, 11, and 12 to honor their achievements and mark the completion of the year’s program.
Now in its 17th year, the Paraprofessional Academy provides six days of comprehensive training throughout the school year to equip paraprofessionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet state credentialing requirements and excel in their roles supporting students and educators.
Stacey Breiner, Education Consultant in the BCIU Office of Professional Learning, opened the ceremonies by highlighting the essential role paraprofessionals play in supporting student achievement. She commended the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to learning, and acknowledged the invaluable contributions they make in the classroom.
She also thanked the school representatives who participated in the ceremonies by conducting interviews, evaluating portfolios, and sharing in the celebration of this important milestone.
Graduates included paraprofessionals from the following schools: Berks County Intermediate Unit (1), Berks Career and Technology Center (3), Brandywine Heights Area SD (4), Conrad Weiser Area SD (11), Governor Mifflin SD (11), Hamburg Area SD (8), Kutztown Area SD (4), Muhlenberg SD (4), Reading SD (26), SOS Shared Group, serving Antietam, Brandywine Heights Area, and Oley Valley SDs (3), Tulpehocken Area SD (2), Wilson SD (9), and other unaffiliated individuals (2).
