secondary art exhibit artwork

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) hosted the 43rd Annual Secondary Art Exhibition Award Ceremony at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. This signature event celebrates the creativity and talent of high school students across Berks County.

The exhibition, displayed in the GoggleWorks main gallery from Friday, March 28, through Wednesday, April 30, 2025, featured over 1,700 original works created by students in grades 9-12. Artwork, selected by art educators from participating schools, was formally judged across a variety of categories including oils/acrylics, water media, color and black-and-white drawing, pen and ink, printmaking, mixed media/collage, photography, digital and photo illustration, hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery, 3-D/motion graphics, graphic design, sculpture, and both loom and non-loom textiles.

The Berks County Guild of Craftsmen and the Berks Arts Council were instrumental in the success of the event, not only supporting the exhibition but also presenting awards to the students for their outstanding work.

Now in its 43rd year, this annual exhibit continues to highlight the exceptional artistic achievements of Berks County youth and the vital role that arts education plays in nurturing creative expression and personal growth.

Student Spotlight | Ella Damiani

Each year, the Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) adds a piece of student artwork from the Annual Secondary Art Exhibition to its permanent collection at the BCIU Main Office. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this meaningful tradition, with selected works on display dating back to 1995.

The BCIU has selected a piece by Ella Damiani, a talented sophomore from Wilson High School in the Wilson School District to celebrate this milestone. Ella’s artwork was chosen for its creativity, technical skill, and expressive quality, earning a well-deserved place in the BCIU’s distinguished collection.
