The BCIU provides assistive technology support services to districts of Berks County through the Training and Consultative (TaC) provisions.
With effective instruction, schools can assist students with autism in achieving significant benefits.
We are dedicated to helping schools in supporting students in their least restrictive environment (LRE) for each student. To achieve this, Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams start with the general education setting and employ Supplementary Aids and Services before considering more restrictive options.
The BCIU offers district staff TaC services in supporting students with Low Incidence Disabilities. Training and consultation can be provided to support teachers and paraprofessionals working with individual students and/or to support classroom training needs.
The BCIU offers a variety of supports and services dedicated to supporting districts in providing evidence-based assessment and instruction to maximize student learning and increase students’ skills in literacy and mathematics.
The BCIU can provide Training and consultation to district staff to support positive student behavior outcomes, classroom management, and strategies for de-escalating challenging behaviors. Trainings can be customized to meet your district needs.
The BCIU offers comprehensive training for newly hired Paraprofessionals as well as Paraprofessionals who have been in the field for a while.
