Does Early Intervention make my child eligible for medical assistance?

No. Your child must meet the Social Security insurance disability criteria to be eligible for medical assistance.

What does it cost?

Special education services are provided free of charge through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Will I be able to keep my current therapist/provider?

The Berks County Intermediate Unit does not typically use providers of infant/toddler early intervention services.

Are child care services available through the preschool Early Intervention Program?

Preschool Early Intervention is a special education program based on a child’s needs; it is not child care. For information on child care resources within the community, please contact your local Early Learning Resource Center at 484-651-8000.
