Many families rely on the student meals provided by school districts during the school year. That need doesn’t go away during the summer months. If you or someone you know is suffering from food insecurity this summer, here are a few of the resources available in Berks County:
The Olivet Boys & Girls Club is continuing its grab and go meals this summer in partnership with the Reading School District and Centro Hispano Daniel Torres.
Breakfast/Lunch pickup is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Youth will receive two of each meal at pickup.
Dinner pickup is available Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (Weekend dinners are distributed on Fridays).

The Reading Recreation Commission is providing daily meals and weekly activities for children this summer at various locations throughout the City of Reading.
Meals are available Monday through Friday in the following locations from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., June 22 through August 28:
From July 6 to July 31, daily meals and weekly activity kits are also available, Monday through Thursday, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the following locations:
Antietam School District is providing meals for area children this summer. Pick-up is available on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Middle School-High School and the Mount Penn Elementary Center.
Boyertown will be offering grab-and-go meals throughout the summer. Meals will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boyertown High School.
Brandywine Heights Area School District will continue summer meals through August 31. Students can pick up meals Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Brandywine Heights Intermediate/Middle School. Thursdays pickup will include meals fro Thursday and Friday.
The Olivet Boys & Girls Club will be providing grab-and-go dinner Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Conrad Weiser Area Middle School.
Additionally, the Conrad Weiser Food Pantry will be distributing make-at-home breakfast and lunch kits for students and their families on Thursday July 2; Friday, July 10; and Friday, July 17. Distribution for these meals will also be done at the Middle School.
Breakfast and lunch pickup will continue through the Daniel Boone Area School District this summer. Meals can be picked up Monday through Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Daniel Boone Area High School.
The Fleetwood Area School District is continuing its meal distribution through July. Meals are available to students 18 years of age or younger, including recent graduates. Grab-and-go lunches will be provided on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Pickup is available at the Fleetwood Area Middle School.
The Olivet Boys & Girls Club is providing grab-and-go meals in the Governor Mifflin area throughout the summer. Meals are for Berks County students ages 3-18 and may be picked up Monday through Friday at in the Kenhorst Borough Hall (339 S. Kenhorst Blvd) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
The Hamburg Area School District will distributing grab-and-go summer meals two days per week, Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Monday, June 29. Two meals will be provided on Mondays and three on Wednesdays. Pickup is available at the Hamburg Area High School between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Parents can sign up to receive summer meals – breakfast and lunch – for students in the Kutztown Area School District through the district’s website.
The Muhlenberg School District is continuing its meal distribution for students during the summer. Breakfast and lunch meal pickup is available Monday through Thursday (no Friday meals) 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Meals may be picked up in the rear of the Muhlenberg Elementary Center where buses drop off students. This service is available to children 18 and younger.
The Twin Valley School District is offering weekly meal kits for district families. Orders must be placed in advance through the district website.
Wilson School District is providing meals for students through the month of July. Children 18 and younger can pickup weekly meal kits (which include five lunches and five breakfasts) on Wednesdays between 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Cornwall Terrace Elementary School.
