With limitations on large gatherings in effect across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Berks County Intermediate Unit held a virtual Start of the Year | State of the Unit event for staff members on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.
Office directors joined program staff via a combination of Zoom and socially distanced in-person meetings to share organizational updates entering the 2020-2021 school year.
Meetings included a pre-recorded message from Executive Director Dr. Jill Hackman thanking staff for their continued efforts during a difficult time. “There is one thing that has not changed in this time: the commitment, dedication, and devotion that each and every one of you have always demonstrated.”
The video also highlighted the BCIU’s 2020+ Strategic Plan, Health and Safety Plan, and the organization’s continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Last year’s keynote speaker Adam Blank returned via Zoom to provide words of encouragement to the staff with a reminder that “we are all in it for the students.”
Additional information for staff, including recognition for the past year’s employees of the month and those celebrating milestone years of service anniversaries, were posted on BCIUnify.
The BCIU thanks everyone who helped to make these sessions a success and set the stage for our 2020-2021 school year.
