Superintendents from Berks County’s 18 school districts, the two career and technology centers, and Berks County Intermediate Unit Executive Director Dr. Jill Hackman have been working together to map out a reentry plan for staff, students, and faculty. The goal of the effort is to make collaborative decisions and implement protocols consistently across Berks County schools.
Collectively, the education leaders have been working to create a framework to guide discussions and a planning tool for reopening that also includes protocols in the event of a resurgence of the pandemic.
The “Workplace Readiness Essentials Roadmap: Berks County Education Framework for Reentry” document provides guidance to schools in key areas, including human resources, operations, education and student services, technology, and special education.
“Creating a common framework is critical as we prepare to welcome students and staff back into our school buildings,” said Dr. Jill Hackman, Berks County Intermediate Unit Executive Director. “This would not be possible without the partnership of our school leaders working together to support the 70,000+ students we serve across Berks County.”
Countywide Health and Safety and Athletic Safety Plans are also being developed.
