Dr. Michelle Reichard-Huff, Director of the Office of Early Childhood and Student Services (ECSS), has received her doctoral degree from California University of Pennsylvania. Her dissertation title is, “An Exploration of the Influence of Self Care and Mindfulness Practices on Early Childhood Teachers’ Perceptions of Stress and Job Satisfaction.”
A group of BCIU ECSS staff volunteered to share their stress, job satisfaction and commitment, and self-care behavior, both prior to and after participation, in an eight-week mindfulness intervention. The data discovered through this research contributed to Dr. Reichard-Huff’s dissertation but will also lend itself to support our organization’s ongoing commitment to promote employee wellness and job satisfaction. This will naturally support the BCIU’s mission of providing high-quality resources, innovative services and programs, and responsible leadership to enrich the educational and social services needs of our children, families, schools, and greater community.
