The Berks County Committee on Legislative Action met virtually with Hannah Barrick, J.D., Assistant Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO), on Tuesday, February 9.
Mrs. Barrick provided the committee with valuable insight on Governor Wolf’s proposed budget for 2021-2022, an update on the new leadership and dynamics in the PA House and Senate, and state financial challenges (COVID and others).
Following an overview and discussion of the COLA Targeted Advocacy Campaign, the Committee recognized Dr. Robert Pleis for his advocacy and efforts on behalf of the more than 70,000 students across Berks County. Dr. Pleis has served as COLA co-chair since the committee was created in 2016. He will retire as superintendent of the Twin Valley School District as of March 31, 2021.
Congratulations, Dr. Pleis! Thank you for your leadership, collaboration, and dedication to our students, schools, and the community!
