On Thursday, October 22, the Children Matter Action Fund partnered with Berks County Head Start to host a virtual event called Candidate Conversations: Views on Early Learning and Child Care Issues.
The event featured candidates for public office discussing key issues around early learning, including the impact of COVID-19 on child care infrastructure, retention of qualified child care staff members, and the ongoing need for state-funded early learning programs.
Speaking at the event were State Senator Judy Schwank; Manny Guzman, candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in District 127; and James Oswald, candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in District 126.
The emcee for the event was Cherri Gregg, community affairs reporter for KYW Newsradio.
The Berks County Intermediate Unit would like to thank all of the candidates and local partners who participated in this important discussion.
