Time is set aside each year for the Board President and Superintendent workshop to provide an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and sharpen skills through leadership development. This year’s event, the 24th Annual Board President and Superintendent Workshop, was held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the BCIU Main Office.
During their presentation, “Telling Your Story: A Proactive and Collaborative Approach to School District Communications,” Mrs. Amelia Krotee, Marketing Communications Specialist for BCIU and the Twin Valley School District; and
Mrs. Karen Troutman, Director of Public Relations of the Wilson School District, shared information and tips regarding effective communications and public relations to bolster school board and district collaboration. Topics covered included the importance of a consistent message, setting the stage for telling your story, navigating crisis communications, social media best practices, developing relationships with
local media, and where to find additional resources to assist in communication initiatives.
