NOTICE OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY

The Wilson District Board of School Directors seeks a dynamic individual with integrity, visionary leadership, and strong administrative skills to lead a district of over 5,900 students.

The District Board of School Directors is proud of the district’s tradition of excellence, has a deep commitment to a high-quality program of education, and recognizes that the selection of a superintendent is one of their most important tasks. TIMELINE

  • March 21, 2017: Notice of Vacancy Posted
  • April 24: Deadline for Submitting Applications
  • May 8 and 9: Initial Interviews
  • May 17: Finalist(s) Interviews
  • May 22-26: Search Committee Site Visits/Finalist Visits Wilson School District
  • June 2017: Superintendent Appointed
  • July/August 2017: Start Date (*upon release date)

 
QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are required:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a superintendent of schools in Pennsylvania;
  • Master’s degree required, doctorate preferred;
  • Minimum of 10 years in education, including five years of building level and/or central office administrative experience and at least five years of teaching experience; and
  • Excellent academic credentials.


The preferred candidate will possess:

  • Integrity and visionary leadership;
  • Experience in achieving high academic performance while creating academic equity;
  • Sound finance and business management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills;
  • Experience with development and implementation of curriculum;
  • Knowledge of educational and technological best practices;
  • Understanding of special education and advocacy; and
  • Success in community engagement and involvement.


COMPENSATION

Commensurate with accomplishments; fringe benefits package negotiable.
