SCHOOL-AGE PROGRAMS

BCIU School Age ProgramsBCIU operates a number of classroom programs that serve students with unique needs from various school districts within Berks County. These classrooms are typically located in school district buildings and offer a helpful blend of classroom instruction, related services, and individualized support.

School districts must make referrals for services by submitting a School-Age Service Request Form to the BCIU.

Current classrooms include:

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program
Two classrooms located in two Reading School District buildings serve students from all school districts. Locations include Northwest Area Elementary School and the Reading High School.

Preparation for Adult Life
This program, located in the Berks Career and Technology Center – East Campus with access to community settings, serves students with special needs from all school districts.

Project SEARCH
Located at Penn State Health St. Joseph’s downtown location, this program serves eligible students from all school districts.

Transition House
Located in a community setting within the Daniel Boone School District, this program serves all school districts.
