Act 89 is a state-funded program that provides a variety of services to the nonpublic schools of
Berks County. Services include remedial instruction, psychological services, speech, and

Safe and Drug-Free
Schools
Safe and Drug-Free Schools funding for nonpublic schools in Berks County is coordinated by a
consortium administered by the Colonial Intermediate Unit. Funds may be used by nonpublic schools to
provide staff training to ensure safe and drug-free schools. To determine eligibility for this

Title II, A
Title II Eisenhower funding for nonpublic schools is coordinated by a consortium administered
by the Schuylkill Valley Intermediate Unit. Funds are to be used for the training and upgrading of skills in mathematics and

Title V
Berks County Intermediate Unit administrates the federal Title V Nonpublic Program for a
consortium of intermediate units that includes the following:

Colonial Northhampton Intermediate Unit |

Schuylkill Intermediate Unit |
The consortium also includes 114 nonpublic schools from
Berks County to Scranton, Pa. The mission of the Title V program is to
provide educational media to support instruction and improve student learning
in nonpublic schools.
