Act 89 is a state-funded program that provides a variety of services to the nonpublic schools of Berks County. Services include remedial instruction, psychological services, speech, and guidance. To determine eligibility for services, nonpublic schools should contact:

Safe and Drug-Free Schools

Safe and Drug-Free Schools funding for nonpublic schools in Berks County is coordinated by a consortium administered by the Colonial Intermediate Unit. Funds may be used by nonpublic schools to provide staff training to ensure safe and drug-free schools. To determine eligibility for this service, contact:

Title II, A

Title II Eisenhower funding for nonpublic schools is coordinated by a consortium administered by the Schuylkill Valley Intermediate Unit. Funds are to be used for the training and upgrading of skills in mathematics and science. To determine eligibility for this service, contact:

Title V

Berks County Intermediate Unit administrates the federal Title V Nonpublic Program for a consortium of intermediate units that includes the following:

Berks County Intermediate Unit
Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit
Colonial Northhampton Intermediate Unit 
Schuylkill Intermediate Unit

The consortium also includes 114 nonpublic schools from Berks County to Scranton, Pa. The mission of the Title V program is to provide educational media to support instruction and improve student learning in nonpublic schools.
