Microsoft Office Productivity Training

Berks County Intermediate Unit’s Educational Technology Services (ETS) provides training on Microsoft Office Productivity programs, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, and MS Access. In addition, we have many experienced trainers who can provide other software applications.

List of courses

Introduction to MS Office for Senior Citizens – This workshop provides an introduction into the most popular features of MS Office.

Using MS Access (Introductory) – This workshop is for the individual whose job responsibilities include working with tables to create and maintain records, locate records, and produce reports based on information in a database.

Using MS Excel (Introductory) - This workshop will give you the skills to create, edit, format, and print basic worksheets and charts in Excel.

Using MS Excel (Intermediate) - This workshop will cover topics such as streamlining and enhancing spreadsheets with templates, charts, graphics, and advanced formulas.

Using MS PowerPoint (Introductory) - This workshop will cover how to create slide shows, including how to format slides, incorporate charts, tables, photos, clip art, and other elements into your slides. You will also learn how to create transitions, change templates, and add animations to you slide show.

Using MS PowerPoint (Intermediate) – This workshop will cover advanced features of PowerPoint, including modifying slide masters, creating custom slide layouts and themes, and adding headers and footers to your presentation. You'll also learn to create and modify diagrams, add multimedia elements to your slide show, customize animations for specific parts of slides, and utilize other features.

Using MS Publisher (Introductory) – This workshop will cover how to create basic newsletters, brochures, cards, certificates, advertisements, and other documents that combine text and graphic layout designs.

Using MS Publisher (Intermediate) - This workshop will cover how to use the more advanced features in Publisher to create enhanced newsletters, brochures, and other documents.

Using MS Word (Advanced) - In this workshop, you will learn how to use Word to create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents, forms, etc., including how to use mail merge .

    • All classes are held at Berks County Intermediate Unit.
    • Participants will not receive confirmation but are encouraged to call 610-987-8478 to check registration status.
    • To register, complete and mail the form above. If you are interested in a course and the date or time is not convenient, if you wish to suggest additional course offerings, or for more information, call 610-987-8478.
    • For information about computer training in your office, classroom, computer lab, or job site, please call Dr. Rob Lipton, Educational Technology Services, at 610-987-8481.
    • Inclement weather? Please call 610-987-BCIU after 7:30 a.m. to learn the status of your lab course.
    • Cancellation deadline: Seven days before date of course or workshop. Refunds cannot be made if the participant cancels less than seven days before the class.
    • All classes with less than five participants registered by the deadline will be canceled. Registrants will be notified by phone, and their payments will be refunded.
    • If you are a person with a disability and require special accommodations, please call 610-987-8478 at least one week prior to the workshop.
Cost

Unless otherwise noted, all classes follow this fee schedule. First cost listed is the regular fee, second is the 10% discounted fee for senior citizens, and third cost is for public school retired or active employees in Berks and Schuylkill counties:

Regular - 5-hour workshop = $100.00
Seniors - 5-hour workshop = $90.00
Schools - 5-hour workshop = $69.00
