TRANSITION TO SCHOOL-AGE SPECIAL EDUCATION

BCIU Early Intervention services also help families maintain a smooth transition from our preschool three to five Early Intervention program into a school-age program.

Families are provided support in understanding this transition process. One of the supports provided to families is a transition meeting held in January/February for every family with a child who will be eligible to move on to a Kindergarten program. This is a brief 15-30-minute meeting with representatives of your home school district and your child’s Early Intervention service provider. This meeting is intended for families to meet their school district representatives and briefly learn about the transition timelines and procedures. You will receive more information about school-age transition in the mail as your child enters their transition year.
