The BCIU offers a standardized driver training course for students in Berks County school districts. The program, which is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), includes 30 hours of in-class instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel training.

Behind-the-wheel training may be taken in conjunction with classroom instruction or the two training components may be taken separately. The curriculum complies with PDE regulations, and all BCIU instructors are PDE-certified.

Upon successful completion of the courses, students will receive Certificates of Driver Training, with which they may apply for a reduction in their insurance premium. Reduction of insurance premium is granted at the discretion of the insurance company.
