BCIU Employees Give Back During Holidays

Employees of the Berks County Intermediate Unit showed their heart this holiday season by giving back to our community.

Humane Society

As in previous years, a collection was held to support the Humane Society of Berks County. Throughout the month-long drive, employees donated pet food, cat litter, office supplies, and more. A van full of donations was delivered to the Humane Society on January 10.

Helping Harvest

New for 2019, the BCIU held a fundraiser over the week of Thanksgiving in support of Helping Harvest, formerly the Greater Berks Food Bank. The weeklong drive generated $225 in monetary donations and 276 pounds of food. For every $1 donated, Helping Harvest can acquire $20 worth of food.

Donated toys were wrapped and ready to go to children for the holiday season!

Tulpehocken Transportation

Additionally, the staff at the Tulpehocken Transportation Center held a toy drive for a family in need. Each year, the staff works with the Tulpehocken School District to identify a family in the community that could use some extra help during the holiday season. This year, the team purchased more than $400 in presents which were delivered to the family on December 23. We thank staff for their generous support of these local charities and causes!
