About ASC

The Asian Studies Collaborative is an educational initiative that represents the combined energies and efforts of a spectrum of K-12 and higher education institutions as they strive to introduce and incorporate Asian cultural and language curriculum in K-12 programs across Pennsylvania.

This collaborative effort began in the fall of 2008 in direct response to the struggles that were witnessed as individual school districts labored to launch programs in Mandarin language instruction.

The challenges encountered by these initial programs served to highlight the need to harness expertise and resources from a broader community of educators.

This flexible framework of resources and expertise continues to evolve as new resources are added to the portfolio and new insight is gained through a progression of successful implementations.
