The Berks County Intermediate Unit serves as both the facilitator and the technical support mechanism for this shared vision that we call the Asian Studies Collaborative. This effort is fully in keeping with the mission of intermediate units - striving to bring high quality educational services together in a framework that affords K-12 school districts the opportunity to deliver these programs to their students and communities in a cost-effective fashion.
BCIU’s facilitation of the Asian Studies Collaborative takes many forms:
- As a funding source supporting program initiatives through a program of grants and fee-for-service offerings that enable individual districts to leverage grant monies and share costs and resources
- As a broker of services managing key partner relationships with vendors, university partners, government ministries, and other third-party organizations possessing required skills, resources, and capacity
- As an advocate consolidating program needs and championing action with government agencies, business and community organizations, and legislators
