BCIU administrators joined 200+ school leaders at the Capitol on Monday, April 29, to discuss education issues and priorities with Berks County legislators as part of their advocacy efforts for public education. Advocacy Day 2019 was coordinated by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units (PAIU) and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators, to strengthen advocacy impact throughout the Commonwealth. The focus of the day was meetings with legislators to discuss critical issues affecting public education.
The BCIU team had scheduled meetings with Senator David Argall, Senator Judy Schwank, Representative Mark Gillen, Representative Ryan Mackenzie, Representative David Maloney, and Representative Mark Rozzi. Discussion focused on Early Intervention and Pre-K Counts Programs, School Safety and Security, and Cyber Charter Reform.
The day of networking with our legislators helped to strengthen and build relationships to make a positive difference for public education. We are fortunate to have their support as we continue our advocacy for the 70,000 students in Berks County.
