Technology is such a huge part of our lives today. From the Internet, to iPods, to Blackberries, to YouTube and more, technology permeates our day-to-day lives.

Schools also are embracing technology. Not as gimmicks, but as educational tools - tools that enhance and expand education.

For example, students now can:

• talk to their peers in real time in India, Brazil, or Croatia via high-definition videoconference tools;
• create and show off their Web sites, brochures, logos, and other high-tech creations at regional and state computer fairs; and
• take a virtual field trip to speak with an astronomer studying the stars at an observatory in Chile.
