School-AGE Classroom Programs

BCIU operates a number of classroom programs that serve students with unique needs from various school districts within Berks County. These classrooms are typically located in school district buildings and offer a helpful blend of classroom instruction, related services, and individualized support.

Current classrooms include:

  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program
    Six classrooms located in five Reading School District buildings serve students from all school districts. Locations include Northwest Area Elementary School, Southern Middle School, International Business World Languages, Reading High School, and the Citadel.
  • Multiple Disabilities Support
    This classroom is located in the Governor Mifflin School District and serves students from all school districts.
  • Preparation for Adult Life
    This program, located in the Berks Career and Technology Center – East Campus with access to community settings, serves students with special needs from all school districts.
  • Project Search
    This pilot program is projected to start during the 2010—2011 school year in the Deka Batteries complex.
  • Transition House
    Located in a community setting within the Governor Mifflin School District, this program serves all school districts.
