BCIU WEB SITE

An overhaul of the BCIU Web site was released in April 2009. Our extensive research into current Web trends, especially within the education sector, led us to incorporate features such as audience navigation, quick links, a breadcrumb trail, flash animation, and “Faces of the BCIU” vignettes into the new site. 

Thanks to assistance from numerous program representatives, all content on the site has been reviewed and updated. Some notable areas of expanded content include News & Events, Schools, Early Care, Student Enrichment, and Professional Development.

Developed using Microsoft Sharepoint architecture, the site offers robust dynamic functionality, with more features planned for future enhancements. Staff members with permissions are able to add and update their own site content, announcements, documents, and images. Navigation components, page layouts, and graphcis can be changed by the Web designer in a few clicks.

The site seems to have accomplished the goals of providing a wealth of information about BCIU programs and services, facilitating connections among visitors and Berks County schools, and promoting a positive, professional image of a dynamic educational service agency.
