environmental portrait Photographing children can be a delight and a nightmare. Their innocence and spirit are beautiful to behold but can be difficult to capture in an image. And, they have a tendency to move faster than the camera can focus! Candid shots can be a real challenge.
That's why some occasions call for a little more control and direction from the photographer, as are evident in this photo of a student in a school library. Although posed, the girl appears natural enough in her environment and provides good eye contact and a pleasant smile. Light and focus fall off in the background, giving emphasis to the student and the book she was reading just a moment before the photo was made. |
