BCIU's Guest Teacher program prepares guest teachers (substitutes) to replace regular classroom teachers during absences caused by training sessions or leave time. To qualify for a guest teacher position, each candidate must:
- submit documentation of an earned bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university (out-of-country graduates can obtain emergency permits, although the process is more complex);
- submit current criminal history, child abuse history, and FBI fingerprint clearances showing proof of no incidents;
- submit a $20 money order (refundable only if candidate is not accepted into the training session);
- submit a current physical examination, including a TB test; and
- successfully complete the two-day Guest Teacher Training Program at the BCIU Education Centre.
Upon successful completion of the interview screening and two days of the training program, participants will be qualified to substitute for the BCIU, the Berks Career & Technology Center (BCTC), and the following participating Berks County school districts:
Antietam - Boyertown Area - Brandywine Heights Area
Conrad Weiser Area - Exeter Township - Fleetwood Area
Governor Mifflin - Hamburg Area - Kutztown Area - Muhlenberg
Oley Valley - Schuylkill Valley - Tulpehocken Area - Twin Valley
Wilson - Wyomissing Area
